My boyfriend thinks I’m too serious! π π π π π

There. I know, I got your attention, and now that I have it, let me start all over. π
My network on social media thinks I am too serious. You know, the type of person who almost never has fun, who is always on the move, doing, writing and addressing critical issues.
Truth be told, I understand them. Having gone through my social media handles, I see why they think so. π A greater percentage of the content I share is usually targeted at selling myself. You know, putting myself out there, telling people about my passion, what I do, and how focused I am about them. Almost never dabbling into controversies and rarely putting up comic posts.
So, I agree with them. I am serious.

My friends think I am rather hilarious. I mean, during conversations, I get a lot of “you this girl, you are not serious”
Hehehe…πππ
Ironical right?
Truth is, my friends are well aware of my passion and profession. Sometimes, they consult me on things they know I’m good at. However, they know that underneath is one very jocular and hilarious person. So they understand there is a balance.
On a call that lasted close to an hour last week with Ềzα», we literally laughed all through. The discussion was spiced with lots of mimickings and jabs. Walahi, Ềzα» is a case! π
Chidimma must not call me on phone and I sound serious. Ah! π¨ She will not agree something is not wrong nΓ Γ³.
You think you’ve seen it all?
Ngwanα»₯Μ, wait until you see my hilarious chats with Ruth, or you see myself and Sodiq throw banters, then you will wonder if it’s still the glass-wearing, Human Resources and Plogging Nigeria crazed Jessica. π

Actually, I do understand both angles and why they feel how they feel.
To my social media network, I show mostly my career-oriented and focused angle, and to my friends, I show mostly my ‘unserious‘ side. They fill themselves in on the serious ones from social media.
OK guys, not to sound defensive, but I actually believe that you are in charge of communicating your persona to your varied target audience.
The kΓ³kΓ³ is that both yourself and your audience clearly understand yourselves and that boundaries are not neglected. Afterall, the essence of communication is for the receiver to understand the sender (and vise versa). And so far, no one has ever said they found me confusing, so, I’m good. π π

So guys, let’s run an opinion pool today. π If you’ve read to this point, kindly tell me in the comment section:
* How we met
* Your first impression about me (serious or unserious)
* Has it changed over time? (Why)
Yea yea… I know. π
Just do me this little favour ehn…
You know how much I appreciate feedback. π
PS: Meanwhile, part of my to-do list is convincing my boyfriend that I am not too serious. π π π π
Don’t worry. I will gist you later how it went. π

How we met?
We met in the University of Ibadan at a Provincial NFCS meeting.
First impression?
You appeared serious, very serious.
If you have changed?
I noticed that you fit in for but serious and unserious things. There is truly a balance.

Saying how we met would literally be me selling out myself π©
But Iβd answer the others βΊοΈ
TBVH, I thought you were a bit too strict and a hard person, when we first met.
Of course that has changed now, and Iβm glad Iβve never been a person to trust first impression.

I encountered you during my pre degree days, when you came to talk about your past experience.
I would say you were a bit of the two. You were not too serious or too unserious. I loved the way you said your experiences and gave advices. You haven’t changed.

Jessicaπ Very playful human being, I guess your natural affinity for activity and being open about them makes you look serious.

Hhmmm! NnΓ© issa such a long story.π
I could recall it was at NPlogC (everyone minding their business) Lol. Not until that evening when we opened βI wan close shopβ and the whole thing became like a battle β 2titans against 1villain.π
And since then, its been cool. First impression was subtle but behind it all, itβs been gratifying.π

Well composed Jess. Iβve had this conflict a while back with people from different circles of mine having diverse perceptions of how I am. But hey sometimes you just got to leave it to their imagination π
